Comic book fanboy Milo Ventimiglia is looking to build on his geek cred when he appears in and co-produces a new web series called “Ultradome” sometime this Summer. The show is being sold as being for and by the fanboys, and will feature passionate geeks settling hypothetical disputes (such as who is tougher, Darth Vader or Gandlf? Neo or Harry Potter?) in a special effects showdown involving “single combat using all the weaponry, skills and pop culture touchstones from their respective hero’s creative arsenal”, whatever that means.

Says Milo about the project (via):

“My whole life has been spent engaged with friends in intellectual debate … like whether Captain Kirk is tougher than Spock or if Middle Earth is a more difficult place to live than Tatooine… With ‘Ultradome,’ we can bring these debates to the public and settle them in the most logical way possible: through armed combat.”

SpikeTV actually already has a very cool version of this concept with their Deadliest Warrior TV show, but that one is more serious-minded, and actually featured people who have actually trained extensively in the skills they’re pitting against each other. This one looks to be just for laughs.

Each episode of Milo’s “Ultradome” will be 3 to 5 minutes long, and Milo himself will appear in the first episode, which pits “Lords of the Rings” against “Star Wars”. Milo, says the article, will be fronting the LOTR folks.

Milo will produce the original web series through his DiVide Pictures along with Agility Studios.
